Thousands of protesters have held rallies in South Korea's capital Seoul this week as they continue their campaign against the lifting of a ban on US beef imports.

Street protests, sometimes involving extreme measures, are an important part of Korean culture. More than 10,000 are held every year - some with devastating consequences.
